Meet Tom
For first time buyer Tom, it was only when the landlord of his rented property decided to sell that he began to consider buying a home of his own.
Aware of the Government Help to Buy scheme and the deposit assistance this offered, Tom began searching on the property portals for new build developments in the area, which is when he discovered BoKlok on the Lake in Worthing.
With a lot of his family already living in Worthing, the location of the apartments was a major draw – as was the starting prices for the one-bedroom apartments.
Tom talks of his initial property search:
“It wasn’t until my rented property went up for sale that I really considered buying a home of my own. I knew that I wanted to use the Help to Buy scheme, to boost my deposit, so I began searching for new builds in the area. BoKlok on the Lake really appealed to me. It’s located close to friends and family and its starting prices were within my reach. After registering my interest and speaking with the sales team, I got my mortgage in principle.”
The fact that the apartments are so energy efficient was a major draw for me. With everything in the news about escalating costs, it’s really comforting to know that my home is actually designed to help to me reduce my energy consumption, and as a result, my energy bills too. I moved in, in February and the apartment is so well insulated, I haven’t even had to turn the heating on yet!!
Now he is moved in and settled, Tom is enjoying life at BoKlok on the Lake:
"It still feels very surreal that I own my own home! I still don’t think it has sunk in. I’m really happy with the flat. It’s finished to a really good standard and has everything you could need. I feel like I have so much space. The storage is fantastic - they really have thought of everything!"
